Whole Community Approach to Preparedness: Presidential Policy Directive 8 / PPD-8: National Preparedness

PPD-8 asks the whole community–including individuals, businesses, community- and faith-based organizations, schools, tribes and all levels of government–to work together to develop a national preparedness goal, a national preparedness system description, and a set of supporting frameworks, plans and guidance documents that will help the nation reach the national preparedness goal. As part of this initiative, the PPD-8 Program Executive Office (PEO) and its partners are hosting a series of webinars and in-person workshops in February and March of 2012 to engage the private and non-profit sectors in developing the National Planning Frameworks, which are due to the President on June 30, 2012.

Webinar and In-Person Workshops Objectives:

February Events The February events are intended to collect input from the private and non-profit sectors to inform development of the first drafts of the National Prevention, Protection, and Mitigation Frameworks, and the revision of the National Response Framework. Each iteration of the February in-person events will follow a similar agenda, so we recommend choosing a date that works best for you. Input collected will be incorporated into the draft documents prior to their release for public comment.

March Events – The focus of the March events will be on reviewing and collecting feedback on a number of products, with a particular focus on the role of the private and non-profit sectors. Each iteration of the March in-person events will follow a similar agenda, so we recommend choosing a date that works best for you.

Due to space limitations, attendees must pre-register for each webinar and in-person workshop. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. To register, please email PPD8-Engagement@fema.dhs.gov with your name, email address, phone number, organization, and requested event dates.
